I don't think he saw me, just my decoy too far off and a loud bang.
Sounds like he hung up just out of effective range.  Is that correct?

I'd ditch the deke and resume the chase in the morning.

really? why no decoy?
I have only gotten a couple birds some with a decoy and some without.
I personally don't use them, but if I did then the reason I would ditch it is in case he may associate it with the previous mornings negative encounter, if he is capable of remembering.

I agree...  I hit a slightly different location, maybe use a different call, and either different or no decoys...

Not so much of a memory, but more of a negative Pavlov's response....
Did I do that?

Fly fishermen are born honest, but they get over it.

well last night sombody cam and shot twice to scare them down into the other field, so this am after sitting since 3:30 i heard someone else shoot 2 shots, then a third.  I am sure they got atleast one, i might have heard a gobble after the third shot..... so hopefully better luick tomorrow, and hopefully they don't come and force the brids away, i know it was my awful neighbor, he will do anything, chase birds with trucks whatever. wish i had not blown it yesterday before he knew the birds were down my way.

Sounds like you need to document the neighbor via phone video.  Sure green jeans would love him.

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.

Most of the time when I hear one shot after the other I think whoever shot probably didn't get him..

Do what you want to. A good friend of mine missed on Sunday morning and killed him at 7 on Monday morning. He didn't change much. He was within 10 feet of the tree he missed the bird from. If they're hot I don't think it matters much.

I wouldn't worry about the deke. As long as he didn't see you, he'd think it was another turkey. Loud bangs don't bother turkeys. Sometimes they run away, sometimes they fly away, sometimes they stand there looking around. I've killed gobblers and had his buddy attack his lifeless corpse. I've missed birds and called them back in. I've killed a gobbler in a group and had the rest of the birds stand around going WTF?
So unless you reacted poorly and he saw you, get back in there and hunt. Good luck.

Sent from deep in the woods where the critters roam.

Turkeys don't totally forget. Idk why everyone thinks they do but it's wrong imo.  Imagine a good food place, if it was good the last day or so would they forget so today?? How bout hens on nests, do they forget where they layed?   The state years back tried netting some w cannon. The cord was visible. Not sure why it freaked em out but for days they were leery and looked for cord.
I could go on but they're intelligent enough to remember some things for some time.
Keep shooting at em/harassing em n see if the flock stays?? It won't. If ya believe dif I won't convince ya.

Now will they associate a shot w you? That all depends on how you do things

Bad neighbor.   Some people will resort to just about anything to tilt the odds in their favor.

Bigbird, only a consideration but how do you know it was the same bird?? It could've been a dif one.

No, turkeys don't forget. They forgive but they don't forget.
