Bob Dixon vest question

I didn't care for using the Dixon vest for hunting. I thought the Longbeard was a better vest. Those shoulder straps would bind on clothing at the wrong time for me. No slip to them, just like the slings. Both of mine are packed away as collectibles.
"I don't hunt turkeys because I want to. I hunt turkeys because I have to."

I've worn one once and didn't really like it. Love the idea behind doing them and the the claw straps were neat. Just was heavy to me and didn't really like the layout. I would've bought one when they first released probably and gave it to a kid or something most likely.

I love the one I have. Hunted with it for the past 4 seasons. Here are the pros..
made of quality material so no fading streching out and just feels way more solid than any other vest by far.
Seat is super comfortable and thick. weigh about 180 and it never bottoms out after long sits. only vest I know of that can do that
all call pouches are surrounded by neoprene so if it rains all your expensive calls and striker stay dry!
All pockets are easy to get to and make sense
seat is magnetic or buckle
zippers are quality and never bind
vest is over 10 years old and hunted hundreds of times and still looks new
It does have some weight to it but feels like a minimal vest
back pads are great and not uncomfortable like alot of vest
lots of adjustment for fit
Best looking vest imo
These are the cons and all anyone can say about it
heavy. but maybe a pound heavier than the lightest vest. " I personally like the vest weight because it feels so secure when u wear it".
claw straps bind when it's time to shoot. Can kinda see this but not really. I have no problem with it
Not in full original bottomland. my biggest concern haha
All in all I dont think it can be beat

As was stated previously, they're worth whatever someone is willing to pay.

I bought one when they came out new, still have it, think the design is great, though hot and a bit heavy for how my hunting style has evolved since I first purchased it (more of a minimalist). I've owned a ton or vests over the years and have yet to find one built to that quality, and may never based on how most vests seems to be built today.

I will hang onto it simply because of the whole premise behind the vest, and the fact that I was fortunate enough many years ago to get to eat lunch with Bob Dixon himself. He was doing a seminar at a local sporting goods store, and I got to spend time with him and some of the folks from the store. My early turkey hunting years were spent watching the original Primos and Mossy Oak videos, which he was a big part of. We didn't have any turkeys to speak of on the places I had access to hunt at the time, nor did I really have anybody to teach me back then, as my father didn't turkey hunt at the time. So, I soaked up whatever knowledge I could gain from them (which was actually pretty good stuff since they didn't push many of the other gimmicks on the market today and just simply turkey hunted as I still do), hunted with whoever would invite me that had birds, and burned a ton of boot leather learning on my own. All that to say, getting to share a lunch with a guy like Bob was pretty darn cool to me at that time, and still would be today if he were around.

I've seen some of the high prices they command on eBay auctions, and don't view it any different from what some people pay for calls that they see as valuable.

I bought mine new when they were first released.  It's been hunted hard and has seen its share of dead turkeys.  I absolutely love mine.  I was offered $800 for mine many moons ago and I didn't sell.  It's my turkey vest.  I'm going to wear it until it falls apart or I stop hunting.  Neither of which I see happening anytime soon.  I have zero complaints, maybe I'm just not that picky...
