I'd say you got them on clearance.

I bought some Leupold Acadia binos for $59 and a vx2 3-9x40 for $49. I'd not sweat $3.99 for some shells.

They clearanced out Marlin 1895's in 45/70 for $139 last year.

My conscience is clear now, I made my choice and would do it again. I only judge myself. I feel that we are all right here. Thanks for all your thoughts. ????????????

Thanks guys, I am selfish, I went back for me. My soul is in tact, that's all I can take with me when I leave this rock. The shells are usually 9.49. They sometimes do a throwback to 7.49 so I check every time I go there.  :smiley-patriotic-flagwaver-an

You did an honorable thing, sir. Don`t know how old you are or if you have kids at home, but if you do, you set a great example for them. The mere fact that your post has engendered such interest illustrates the sad fact that such acts as the one you took, and the feelings that prompted it, are far from the norm in our society today. You did the right thing, and so did the Walmart manager.

I've read many times smart shoppers always negotiate at all stores. I see this as you negotiated a better price. So not quite the same thing you're buying a car salesman says car is 15000, you point out sticker says 20000. He says yes but it's 15. So you buy car. Are you going to feel guilty and go back and pay the extra 5? Just think of it as you negotiated a great price. Bubba
Some people don't understand, but us guys with a conscience can't trick ourselves into believing we did right when actually we did wrong. Your either born with it or it's instilled into you. :whip2: by strick parenting growing up..

So was at a gun show recently asked a dealer about 2 cases of gun Ammo and he dropped the price 30 bucks and I took it. So if this was a big box store I should feel guilty that I got a better price? Or did I just rob this guy of 30 bucks and now my conscience says I have to give it back? My conscience is clear. Bubba
You said dealer, the dealer was selling the shells his call not the same thing. And you will never get over on a car dealership, about like a casino. It's all about ones character. After all the back slapping I wonder how it would have ended if every person that commented said screw Wallmart would the OP have still went back? If so why the need to ask the question if he already had the answer?
If you make everything easy how do you know when your good at anything?

So to recap what we're all assuming is the kid got it wrong and it wasn't just a Roll Back or marked down item. And I'm untrustworthy and have no conscience!  :blob10: :blob10:

This pack of Winchester's may be $5 depending where you are and if they're on clearance.

It is too bad that you felt like the associate was short with you, there is no excuse for treating a customer like that, anytime.I do however believe that the manager who told you that the associate had an "attitude problem" showed a lack of leadership and managing skills. He should have done what he did and spoke with the associate about the issue alone and not "insulted" him towards you or any other customer.I do believe you are rewarded in life for doing good, and you definitely did good.

You did right Zelmo.
Seen Winchester steel at walmart for 4 bucks a box just last month. Bought a Mossy oak Break up country mid layer thinsulate jacket for 5 bucks at that time also.
Just this past summer got a Weatherby Deluxe wood rifle marked 689 bucks for 350. Synthetic ones were 250 . I know a few guys who bought 4 or more. 30.06, 270, 308, 243. Along with federal blue box ammo in those calibers for 10 bucks.
Two years back or so . You all remember turkey thugs for 2.50 a box , XX black box for 3.00.
A few years back i got Remington STS handicap loads for 5 a box.
Walmart not my favorite store of course , but when they do this i buy.
After season clearance , after Christmas or stock liquidation? Ask them at the sporting goods department, are you sure and buy the heck out of it with a clear conscious. :thanks:

I think  the honest and honorable thing to do is to check if there was a mistake and that is what you did. On the other hand a quoted price is the price. Either is legal and your right to take, but honorable and ethical are different things. we've had some pretty deep discussions on ethics here before. Legal doesn't always equal ethical. The golden rule applies, do unto others as you would have them do unto you! Like I said earlier sometimes stores are just wanting things to go away to make room. I once sold 5 skids of product for basically $1.00 an item. My manager told me to make it disappear, I made the customer a deal...take all five skids and you get the bargain of your life. Of course I cleared it with my manager first.
