Just got back lastnight from my trip to KS and SD and what a blast. Filled all 3 tags in 2 days of hunting and a great time with my dad. A 28lb, 24lb, 20lb birds
Our first stop was in KS (have to give a big thanks to Steve at Irish Creek Outfitters for providing a great place to stay and land to hunt) where I had 2 tags to fill. The first mourning we had 10 gobblers going off near us but at fly down they all moved off. We then started to work the creekbottom when we heard one gobble.....we set up and started calling when 2 hens came into the setup. Then as the hens moved off I see a tom moving in and fast....he hit 40yd and went into strut for the last 20yds before I let him have it. For that afternoon went back and set up near where they had been roosted in the mourning and it wasn't long before I had 2 gobbling like crazy. The 2 toms made their way to us (well gobbling every other step) but stayed just out of range and moved past us. At that point I hear another tom gobbling from where the first two came from and thought maybe this one will come in. Well before that one could come in the other two started coming back and this time worked their way by us at 25yds and took my biggest bird to date at 28lb and the biggest bird every shot at Steves place....with that my hunt in KS was done and it was one awesome time.

Then it was to SD and to make a long story short we worked our butts off just to find out we would fill my tag only 70yds from where we started the day. We went to go to get setup for our last setup for the day jut to walk up and spook 2 birds on the top of the ridge. Well the two birds didn't seem to spook to bad I made my way up to the edge of the canyon to see a bird making its way along the edge going to my left. I backed up and went to go around to try to cut them off (hoping there was more then just that one bird) and as I worked my way to the edge I hear one gobble real close. using a big rock for cover I made my way to the edge and there only 25yds away a hen walks by then another 2 hens made their way by and then there he was a nice big tom and I let him have it.

Next week will be WI

Will have pics soon

Congrats. Can't wait to see the pictures of that big boy. Where in Wi. are you hunting?  Mike
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?
If attacked by a mob of clowns, go for the juggler.
