I'm going on a short trip to CO this spring, considering doing some hunting while I'm there. Looking for a resident to give me some guidance with licensing, etc...

Daveb

Here's a link to the CO turkey hunting regs. Not sure what you are looking for.

http://cpw.state.co.us/Documents/RulesRegs/Brochure/turkey.pdf

they also have a page on Turkey hunting, general information etc here...http://cpw.state.co.us/thingstodo/Pages/turkey.aspx

Hope this helps

All I really need to know is are there many public land opportunities in weld county and can I get an OTC license for it

Daveb

Weld County unit 95. Yes OTC available. I don't hunt up there but according to my OnX Maps there isn't a lot of public available around Fort Morgan. Mostly big ranches

ZebWie

Ah okay well thanks for the info,  I'll figure something out. This isn't a turkey hunting trip but it would be nice to get some in.

I live in Weld county.

I am a turkey hunting fanatic, hunt 40 to 50 days a season, but I don't hunt around my home. There are turkeys here, but there are also turkey hunters and not much public. Most general tag public land guys head west up into the hills.

Send me a PM on the details of your trip and I may have a suggestion or 2 for you. The non-res tag is about $100 and you can only have one general tag in spring. Season starts April 14th and ends May 27th.

Actually unit 95 is in Morgan county (adjacent to Weld), but 951 is in Weld and that is also an OTC unit. 87 & 88 are also in Weld and OTC, don't really know much about turkeys up there tho.
