Hey guys.  I'm new here. I have a 3" Vinci and a .665 patter master Black Gold.  I patterned it with mag blends and #6 Win XR's and neither was real impressive compared to my old 870 with a true glo wal Mart special choke.  I'm going to sell my code black and buy another choke.  Can y'all give me a good suggestion?  I have thought sumtoy, jebs, or jelly head.  I've always had good luck through the old 870 with with mag blends.   Thanks for the input in advance.

I have gotten great patterns from my Benelli with a carlsons extended choke .650. Iv only patterned the win long beards out of it. At 40 yards I had 196 in a 10" with 5shot and 220 with the 6 shot. I got the choke for $32 on Walmart's online site.

650 should work 6s & 7s.   660 or 665 if you run 4s & 5s.
Tell us just how dead do you want them to be and we will see if we can get that for you.

My Vinci throws good patterns with a Kicks GT .660 and #5 LBs

I use a Sumtoy .650 and its shoots both hevi shot magblends and lead loads very well in my Vinci. I've tried a few other chokes and the .650 -.660 shot the best patterns for me from a 28" barrel. Check out the benelli pattern picture forum section for some  load/choke combos. And...... :welcomeOG:

First of all welcome. We're glad you're here at OG and look forward to hearing more from you.

I have that same gun. Frankly, there are several chokes that do well with it. The exit diameter that does best can really vary and depends upon the internal geometry of the choke tube.

I would make one recommendation before you give up on the choke that you have. I would "deep clean" the bore of your Vinci http://allaboutshooting.com/blogs/blog/98772615-deep-cleaning-a-shotgun-barrel As you know, that bore is chrome-lined and it can appear to be clean when in fact it's quite dirty.

I have a number of Benelli shotguns and over the years, I've found that some of them like to be "squeaky clean" to pattern at their best. Some like to be slightly fouled to do their best.

To find what your Vinci prefers, I recommend that after you've deep cleaned the bore, take it to the range and shoot several targets without cleaning between shots. In that way, you'll see if your gun likes to be cleaned or slightly fouled.

The choke that you have may work just fine and you'll have saved yourself some money and learned more about your gun.
I hope that helps.

Thanks,
Clark

Thanks so much for the replys.  I'll do some testing and see what happens.

Deep cleaned or mud blind muddy never have seen a difference on any shotgun ever. Now I do believe in keeping your guns clean, however what I am saying is this whole deep cleaning thing is a little crazy! I don't think my great grandpa deep cleaned his 1100 with a modified barrel with no way to change chokes, or my friend Eric who has killed more turkeys then I am old with his 1100 that looks like he dug it out of the bottom of the swamp with an modified barrel. With all the nice guns and technology we have today it's awesome and I praise the Lord for it, anyways sorry for my rant but Sumtoy would be the place to start if you want to try a new choke he is reasonable priced and a very nice guy to deal with!
