I have a Persimmon call from Wendell, any idea what species of wood he uses for his strikers? I can't really tell with mine, but I really like the tone it has. I contacted Wendell and he said my striker is either cedar or poplar, most likely poplar. I ran my Persimmon call on some cedar strikers I have, and it runs great on them too.

I know I am beyond late to discussion, but that scratcher of his sounds pure turkey to me. I liked the original poster's sound file and also enjoyed Mr. Jolley's tutorial that was also posted down below in this thread. If a man cannot kill a turkey with that call, there probably are not any turkeys in the woods to be killed.
