What a morning!  For those of you who have had the opportunity to call up and successfully see your kid kill their first bird, overjoyed is an understatement.

You will be pleased to know that the new Federal HW 2 3/4 #7 do kill at 20 yards.  The bird was a good 3 yr old for her first.  21 lbs  1.25" spurs and a beard with beard-rot (6.25").  This is the first bird I have ever seen with beard-rot.  Even cooler is that we got it all on video.

Here is the video.  You'll have to forgive all the whoopin and hollerin after the kill.  We were both pretty excited!!!  Yes, she did start to cry. (Happy Cry).  ENJOY!

Congratulations to you both.  It is great to kill a turkey yourself, but it is even better to have a youth kill their first turkey with you there to guide them and share their excitement.
The first turkey I had kill in front of me I called in for a youth that had never killed a turkey on youth day a few years back.  I then kill my first turkey the next Saturday when the regular season opened.  I am still trying to top his turkey.

What a rush.

How'd that load pattern?

CB

CB  the patterns are on here somewhere if you want to see the actual pics

10" at 40 Yards:

SSX .550 = 76
Rem SF .570 = 75

at 30 yards the Rem SF had 124 with that load.  I would say it is good out to about 30.

Hope that helps.
