Always shot lead 4s an have never had a problem with them. My girlfriend shoots a 870 20 ga with a 21" barrel. Have been shooting Winchester 5s with decent results thru a jellyhead max choke. Wondering would htl shot damage the gun in the long run? Just hoping to up pellet count a little. Also wondering if a chrome lined barrel is better then a plain steel tube for htl? In the long run. Don't want to damage the gun. Thanks for the input

won't hurt the gun
it's not the harvest,it's the chase

A properly constructed HTL shell will not hurt the gun one bit. I have shot hundreds of HTL shells (including TSS) with zero damage to any of my turkey guns. I do have a couple of choke tubes that show minor scoring that is cosmetic only and has no effect on the function of the choke (wad catchers on my IC .665 specifically).

Chrome lined bores are neither better nor worse than unlined barrels with regards to HTL shot (the only caveat is that you should not polish a chrome lined bore with abrasives to prevent removing the chrome). The purpose of a chrome lined bore is to make the bore more resistant to corrosion and to make it easier to clean.

I have seen cosmetic streaking in the bores of some guns and some chokes that have wad stoppers or internal rings, can certainly show wear and use from tungsten-based shot. I have not however seen a bore actually damaged from tungsten-based shot.

So that means shooting mag blends (exp) thru it at worst may have to replace a choke over a long period of time?

So far chokes seem to shoot better the more I shoot em. I've never shot one to the point pattern got worse. I think its very misleading to take a choke and shoot one shell and judge it. I've not come across one yet that didnt improve the more its shot.
