I found that my Crystal Mistress was harder to maintain, but also discovered that the two piece striker I was sent with it tends to wear the surface down much faster than the one piece flared tip strikers.  I also find that my CM is easier to get good yelps out of then the slate, but the one piece jatoba from Savduck makes my slate scream.  Its awesome
