Braided rope from the hardware (3/8 or 1/2 inch).  Long enough for a loop at each end for head and feet and to leave enough room to place over your shoulder.  A little longer and you can shorten it in the field if necessary.  Carry gobbler head forward so his feathers don't catch on vegetation and ugly him up.  Lightweight and packs compactly.  Switch shoulders between gun and turkey if the rope begins to be uncomfortable.  Cheap.  Works.

I carry 2 or 3 gallon zip lock bags with me

if I'm far from the truck and it's in a state where it's legal I filet the breast off, cut off the legs/thighs, and take off the pockets of meat from up on top of the back. you don't have the carcass for turkey soup, but this will give you about 95% of the meat on a turkey

hang the meat on branches or rocks to cool before putting in the bags, I don't zip them for the walk out. 2 bags placed even in the vest carries nice

I bring out the feet with spurs for identification and the wing bones.

I fold a camo bandana in half Jessie James style, roll it up and tie one end above each foot. The middle goes over my shoulder and I'm off. "old school" ;D

I meant to compliment you guys on your slings. Some of them are works of art. :icon_thumright:

This is one like I use. Got it from Ken Knisley a couple years ago.
