Thinking of using one of the two loads, which one is best and what experience do have with using a .585" choke with these loads?

The HW is the finest commercially available shot out there at 15gr. per CC compared to the Hevi @ around 11 gr. per cc. I've never used it as I'm afraid of the FCW throwing a slug at 25 yards, those that use it love it and I'm probably the fool never trying them. Both my son and I have killed birds with the Hevi 7's thru chokes from .570 -.555 with good results. We get repeatable results of 135 -145 with the .555 and 130 - 140 with the .570.

The Hevi load has 347 pellets, and the Federal load has 328 pellets. I have shot both and I would go with the Federal if I didn't handload TSS. That shell has 633 pellets.

Can't believe you offer this due to someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed and went on a rant. Who cares!

Heavy weigh is the choice in this, weighs more than hevi shot and cup holds more shot. Went back and research it.

Heavy weigh is a lot heavier or denser but most do not like the flight control wad and most of the popular and ported chokes are not recommended for the Federal shells,  they have less shot in cup also. Hevi Shot is not much heavier than lead now days but still in most cases holds a better pattern than lead. I haven't gotten to shoot the Long Beards XR , some hevi shooters have gone to this @ $2 a shell and state they will not pay for the hevi shot anymore.

There is no longbeard XR in 20 gauge yet, only in 12 so far. I wish it was in 20 gauge line up though.  Hevi-Shot is offering a $10 per box rebate with a 2 box limit right now. The HS Triple Beard ,#5,6,7 all lead shot shell is at Mack's Prarie Wings now I believe.

You cant be scared to open that choke up a bit with the Feds. In my gun, going to .575 from .560 made a huge improvement. Let that fcw do its job. Love the HW's.

I have a flush Carlsons 585" choke using it with my Mossberg 500, I know that you shouldn't use ported chokes but what constrictions are best with a Mossberg 500?

SKFOOTER

Ported chokes do not pose a problem with the 20 gauge Flight Control wad as it is much softer and pliable than the one in the 12 gauge load. :OGturkeyhead:

I dis-agree with this... My experience with ported vs non-ported has been just the opposite with the 20ga Fed WHT.

WyoHunter

In my Beretta FWT 7's and a Carlson's .575 patterned best but Hevi-13 7's was a close second. Both are good options with the right choke in your gun.
If I had a dollar for every gobbler I thought I fooled I'd be well off!
