Hi Guys, I've been a member here for a while but this is my first post, so i have two questions i plan on making a push button box call so i was wondering if it matters how thick the wood of the actual box part is and my second question is i have a mad boom box call which i know isn't the best call but is there a way to make it less squeeky? Thank You!

If anyone even has an opinion that would be great and alot more then what i have so i'm all ears or should i say eyes! lol

3/16 thick seems to be about right for the thickness

Most of the manufacturers use a 3 ply Baltic birch ply for the bottom , or you could call it the sound board

Polishing the dowel and dowel holes till their smooth will reduce friction noise , of that doesn't work try a little wax on the rod.

I like to make these when I have time , and that's almost never -

If your going to make  new call anyways, for a quick fix on the madd squeaker, glue a penny to the top of the lid to add some weight to it, that will help stop the squeak in it.
