Just returned from Kansas where I hunted turkeys in the morning and attended track meets and concerts that my grandkids participated in. Took two fine Rios after five days of hunting. The birds weren't as visible as in past years. Both birds were heavy - 22 lbs and 23 lbs. One had a 10 1/2" beard and the other a 10 " beard with 1 1/8" spurs on that bird. My grandson shot a coyote that trotted up to us. Unfortunately the pic is not in focus. He shot him with my Beretta 20 ga. and Fed Hvywgt 7's at 38 yards and dropped him on the spot. He only had the weekend to hunt and we came close to getting his gobbler but he was out of range.
If I had a dollar for every gobbler I thought I fooled I'd be well off!

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons. However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.

Sounds like a good multi-purpose, multi-species hunt. Congrats to you both.
