Hi Everyone.  I'm new here,  so thank you for welcoming me to your forum.  Anyway, I managed to kill a great gobbler during MN's Season B, this past Thurs. (4/23) morning.  I managed to keep a hen in my decoy spread, and eventually, she brought this guy within 35 yards of my position.  He weighed 24 lb., 5 oz., had 1 inch and 7/8 inch spurs and a 9.5 inch beard.

Way to go!  What a hoss!
Did you see much hunting pressure?

Not much, but I do hunt on 450 acres of private land.  I heard one shot on Tues., and one on Thurs., both very early.

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.

24lbs - Wow. I never broke the 20lb mark in NY. Congrats.

Honestly, birds over 20 lb. aren't that uncommon in this part of the state.  And this particular gobbler likely was only a 2 year old.

Congrats on a fine bird.  I'm heading that way this weekend.  Are the birds pretty henned up or are they fairly responsive?
