Going to try both 3.5" and 3" lb #5s in several guns.  What chokes or constriction do the 5's like?

I'm in. Going to try .643, .669 and .685 in my Inv+ set up.

I've shot the #5's in Rob Roberts .660 Invector+, .660 Crio, .655 Crio --- Jelly Head .660 REM, .665 REM.
All have had outstanding patterns at 40 yards.  All 3.5" LB #5's

The WLB shells work well in a variety of choke configurations. What works for the #6 may work just as well for the #5, depending upon the design.

Thanks,'

Full strut

I shot 3 1/2 LB 5's out of a RR .655 and they pattern great! 24 inch sbe2 to be specific

What's up fellows?!?! Been looking and reading on this site for a bit now finally joined, but I shoot LB 5 through an Indian creek choke tube .675 with my Browning silver  which is invec+  with great results at 40 yrds.

Talkem into given up!!!

I just got a box of the wlb and it does not give any advise on what choke to us on the box ..I am going to try them in my rem 870 with factory full and the factory turkey choke ,will see what I come up with .Dutch

#7
My backbored Browning 3" put up 165 with a Star Dot .6775 and 144 with a .685 Hastings. .643 SSX was 139 but a bit lopsided and factory full 76 in the ten but not a real concentration of pellets anywhere and no evenness to the pattern at all.

With an Indian creek .675 in my 835, the longbeard 5's put 211 in the 10 at 40 yards

Longbeard shells can shoot well with a variety of chokes. I'm sure there are better out there, but I use Primos jellyhead.665 choke with #5 longbeards and a .660 primos tight wad with #6. My friend shoots #5s in his 21" 870 and uses a tight wad choke, it seems to work well. I like the .665 because it gives a better overall hunting pattern from my gun. More room for error...

Wolfey

My 870 patterns the 3" 5s good with a kicks .660. Nice even patterns with 160-180 in a 10" at 40.

petemoss83

My Mossberg 835 with an Indian creek 675 threw a 224 hit pattern in a ten at 40yds at just over 70° with the 3.5" 2oz #5's. Barrel has not been deep cleaned nor polished.

:OGturkeyhead: I put a Patternmaster Code Black(.675) in my Browning Gold and it is never coming out.

Lucky Clucker

I shot a 3in. 5 in my sx2 with a Jellyhead .670 at 40 and barely got 70 in a 10 incircle and the pattern was like a donut and sparse. Going to try my stardot and Carlson ported, it is a .665.
Hunt every day as if it were your last.

In my 870 I use an older truglo strutt stopper .665 with #5's 3" it'll do 150's in ten.
