I have an older model 870. Around 2004 model or so. I've tried a rhino 660 jellyhead 660 and my gun will not get near the high numbers with hevi 6s or the magblends. I tried just a plain rem super full .665 choke and got around 150 in the 10 at 40 with the magblends. A lil better than the jellyhead. Do yall think I may need to open it up a lil more and try some 665 or 670 chokes? When I shoot at 40 yds I have a lot of flyers 20"s are more away from my point of impact

3" or 3.5" ? The older 3" guns seemed to love the JH .660.  I got great results with a JH .660 in a newer 870 SM shooting 3.5" Hevi #7's (334 hits in 10" at 40 yards) but I had to go to a JH .665 to shoot Lead...

I have a 3" 11-87 that loves hevi 7's out of a 660 rhino.

Always heard the JH .660s shot the Hevi shot straight 6s and 7s well. What kind of shape is the barrel in? Maybe a deep clean would help.

It could probably use a good deep cleaning. I have a new 870 supermag in bottomland. May just try it. It jus seems like it use to shoot hevi 6s and 7s so good with a jellyhead that's in it. A 660 but either hevis numbers are way down are my barrel needs some serious cleaning

Try Winchester 2 3/4 6 shot xx turkey loads in those 660 chokes.

Yea they are copper plated  lead. I've been shooting them in my 870 for years with a Remington  super full.

Remington duplex 4x6 is another Good one in lead for a 660 choke.

SKFOOTER

What length barrel does your older 870 have?   And I can assure you that the JellyHead .660 in that 870 Supermag  Bottomland will shoot lights out with the Hevi 7's and 6's. :OGturkeyhead:

Old barrel is a 26" and the new bottomland is a 26"

I believe Gobble! Is dead on with the deep clean. Maybe look up how to do it and polish the barrel. Makes a huge difference. Me and a buddy of mine shot our 870s both with a .660. I had a jebs and he had a rhino. I shot mag blend and he shot nitros 4/5/7 and put up 230+ everytime.

I have a 24" barrel on my 870 and shoot 3.5 inch Hevi straight 6's through a .660 jellyhead. I get 200+ in 10 @ 40 everytime. You probably have the right choke. Deep clean the barrel. A clean barrel makes substantial difference.

My 870 SM w/23" bbl will shoot crazy good patterns with a .665 Jellyhead and Hevi 6's or 7's. I actually opted to go with the Rem SF Hevi .675 to open it up a bit. It has worked out well for me so for. My cousin has an 870 SM w/26" bbl and his even shoots better #'s than mine with the Jellyhead. I'd bet your SM in Bottomland will be the ticket with the Jellyhead and Hevi's.

Here are guidelines for "deep cleaning" your bore. http://allaboutshooting.com/article_info.php?articles_id=282

660 is probably to tight. Now the Rem super full at 665 is a good choke and will out pattern many of the aftermarket chokes of the same constriction.

SKFOOTER

.660 is definitely not too tight. :OGturkeyhead:

LARRYHAYNES

Yea a .660 in a 870 is no where close to being to tight. Puts a very even pattern with hevi 6s and 7s at 40.
