I do DIY hunts everywhere I go, and Oklahoma is one of my absolute favorite states to hunt. Have never tried to find private land to hunt as there is plenty of public land with plenty of birds. I usually try to hunt 2 or 3 different areas as a lot of Oklahoma has a one bird per county rule. As for the hunting crowds, I have only run into 1 other hunter in the field, and he was from Louisiana, too. Another great thing about Oklahoma, is the available camping areas.... the state parks are gorgeous and the Corps of Engineers camps are well placed for hunters. I will be in Mississippi until April 12 and then head up to Oklahoma around the 15th and stay thru the end of the season.... who knows? our paths may cross.... Take care and safe travels.
