870 sm/ IC / Win XR's

Ive been toying around with a few different chokes and the Win. Xrs.
Im shooting a 870sm with 23" bbl. no bbl. work.

870 sm IC .665ss / Win Xr 3.5" 2.oz  #5s @ 40 yds.
Conditions were poor for patterning on this day, but I think its a great pattern for 2.oz #5's.   135 in 10".



870sm IC .660 / Win Xr 3.5" 2.oz #6s @ 40 yds.
Conditions were great on the evening my son and I patterned this combo.
I shot it a second time just to compare and had the same 192 in the 10".
Both of these loads put over 40% in the 10" circle.

Good looking patterns there.  50 yd gun for sure.  No turkey has a chance, IF you shoot straight.

I hear ya, I dont know what my deal was that evening, The sights dead on and I usually am too.

good patterns for sure.. dead turkey.. might have to get some of them winnys saturday to try them out..

Good looking patterns. I was getting 170's to 180's last year with same gun and a Kicks .665 and the XRHD #6's.  Looks like I could improve with a slightly tighter choke, but its awful easy to miss them inside 30 with anything tighter!

I like the 170- 180 patterns better, little chance to escape.

While I do like XR's and have shot them for many years, H-13 does just fine in my 870 SM.  Doubt I'll lose many pellets from 37 to 40 yards, 3" #5's, 2 oz :
