"To everything there is a season..."

I've been reminded of that as for the past several months as Doris and I have prepared for a major change in our lives. We have decided to move to South Carolina to be near our son, daughter-in-law and 2 grandsons.

For the past several years, we've made the trip to the Greenville area of South Carolina more and more often.

We all enjoy being together and maybe most importantly, our son and his family really wanted us to move. They've been trying to get us to do that for the past 5 or 6 years and we finally made the decision.

Southern Illinois has been our home for a very long time. The land we own has been in the family for 65 years and there are lots of memories tied to it.

I've hunted the fields and woods here for many decades and know it like the back of my hand. I have a shooting range 150 yards west of my shop and I could go on and on.

If however, we're going to really get to know our grandsons and they are going to really get to know us, we need and want to be closer to them. We also want to be of help to our son and his wife. They are busy folks and we know we can help them.

When the word got out that we intended to sell our home and land, it just happened. All the pieces fell into place very quickly and it's now all sold.

The wooded lands have been sold and that sale has closed. We are only awaiting the closing of the sale on the home and that's less than 2 weeks away.

We've purchased a new home in the Greenville area, close enough to our son's family to be able to visit them quickly but far enough away to give all of us privacy.

I'll be able to continue my work evaluating products and intend to continue my participation in still target shooting. I just won't have to drive so far now.

Since so many of you here seem like family to me, I just wanted you to know.

"To everything there is a season..."

Thanks,
Clark

Nice Clark. Family is always the most important possession we have in life. Good luck with the new move. Being able to see your family more often will bring Doris and you a great amount of happiness. God bless.....

BowBendr

Sounds like a good move that will bring the whole family closer.
May God bless all of yours and Miss Doris' endeavors.

You'll like the south.
Just learn to call slower, with a southern accent.
Otherwise those SC turkeys will ignore you. :toothy9:

I hope you don't miss the winters too much. ;D
Love to hunt the King of Spring!

I lived in Greenville for almost 7 years and moved away about 4 years ago. There's a lot of outdoor recreation to be enjoyed. Be sure to check out Fants Grove, which is in Clemson. Great opportunity for some archery hunting for deer and some turkeys in there for spring hunting. IF my memory serves me correctly, it's about 5,500 acres. There are plenty of roads for access points, but driving back is limited to those with disabilities. This means if you are willing to make the walk, you'll be alone. Enjoy Greenville, it's a wonderful place. Oh and if you enjoy fishing, the lakes are awesome....

But Clark

What are you gonna do now without the 2 foot of snow on your roof?

Best of luck in your new home.

Sounds like the right move Clark. I'm sure you guys will be very happy.

Thank you all so much for your well wishes. We are looking forward to being close to our son and his family.

We've been down that was so much over the past several years to visit them and also many of the still target shoots we attend are in either North or South Carolina. We've  always found some way to include Greenville/Simpsonville in those trips as well.

This moving stuff is however just plain hard work. We have movers coming but we are packing. It's funny when you do that how much "stuff" suddenly doesn't seem very useful or important.

Please understand if I don't reply quickly for the next few days. I really appreciate hearing from you all because as I said, I consider you a part of my family as well.

It helps me to be able to take a break from packing every now and then to see what's going on here.

Thanks again,
Clark

The tractor, the snow blade and one wagon left today. Another wagon left a week ago and some of the smaller tools have been given away over the last few weeks.

We picked-up a little over 80 lbs. of Hevi-Shot from the range with an industrial magnet a few days ago. Most of the range equipment is now gone, so it's winding down here.

Took care of insurance in SC today, so now it's just a matter of packing what's left and saying the goodbyes to friends here.

It's good to be able to talk about this here and I appreciate all the positive comments so many of you have made.

Thanks,
Clark
