Hey guys! New member here from central MN. Shot my first wild MN bird with my cousin last weekend. Left the truck at 5:45 and we got back to the truck at 6:05. We sat for 5 min and had these 2 jakes come in at 17 yards and being newbies we couldn't resist and pulled off a double. Now I'm hooked. I had to buy 4 different boxes of shells and hit the pattern board today, I need a legit turkey choke. This factory full is only good to about 30 yards. I've been lurking all week and learned alot already. Seems a Merriam's is on my hit list.

Why shoot a 3.5"? Because they don't make a 4".

Spring Creek Calls

Congrats, you'll never forget that first bird. Lots of turkey chokes in the classified section.

Congrats on your first.  And a double to boot!!
I love golf.  It keeps a lot of people out of the turkey woods.

Welcome to OG and congratulations on your first bird!
It IS addicting and traveling for turks is a great adventure.
Check out the turkey gun forums about the choke and see what's being recommended.
You'll find lots of good advice on here, come visit often.
Love to hunt the King of Spring!

I hate to tell you this, but it don't always happen that quick!  :funnyturkey:

Seriously though... congratulations!  I remember my first to this day.  I was hunting with a buddy and two came in and I shot, jumped up and ran like they used to on the old hunting videos and dang near got shot myself.

I wasn't paying any attention to the other bird, I didn't even think about my buddy shooting!

Good times with friends are just as good as a hunt with no bird at the end!

Take care, congratulations, and welcome to the addiction bud!

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.
