Went out this morning and soon after getting settled in, a Tom popped out of the brush and gave me and a buddy a great show but hung up out around 60 yards for what seemed like a couple of hours. He wandered off, wouldn't come check out the DSD jake and hen.
We had a jake come by and before he could make his way to us, two large birds chased him off. I hit them with a few yelps and they started a fast walk toward our setup.
I readied my bow and when they reached the dekes I drew. They didn't like that and quickly turned around. I anchored the larger bearded bird with a 125 grain Magnus bullhead. My buddy toting his shotgun took the other beard which ended up having bigger spurs, weighed more and had a full fan. We're thinking beard rot ??
