Custom Build for another Call Builder...

Just finished up this Custom build for Mike Gierok of Goodview, Mn.   He makes custom hand carved strikers.  The call is made from Curly Maple, Red Heart, and Blue Indigo Diamondwood, with a matching Diamondwood striker, with Mikes Custom logo laser'd into 100 year old ivory.

How does it sound with the holes on the side instead of on the bottom?

I think it's about the same or a bit louder.  Lot of guys say it's louder.  Guess it's due to the holes on the back would
be covered up and muffled by your hand.  It definitely doesn't retract any from the call.  I do it mostly on custom calls
where the client wants something on the back that takes up the whole surface area.  I also do it on my double sided calls.
Like these cocobolo calls.  Slate over glass, Glass over Acrylic.
