Had a great morning it was cold in the low 50's wind blowing me and a buddy thats more experienced walked out around in an old corn field found a spot in the pines set out the decoy and waited. We where out and setup just before first light after about 45 minutes i heard a single gobble then nothing for about 5minutes did a couple of yelps with mouth call waited few minutes got another gobble but louder spotted the gobble on the other side of the field from where we thought he was roosting the day before.

In no time ole tom made it across the field and to the decoy. He stopped about 30 yards out and just looked at it. Slowly but sure he made his way in about 10 more yards then behind us we heard the hens out in the field. Soon as tom heard and seen them he lost interest in the decoy and started moving to the other hens. I lined up my gun and took the shot folded him up.

The hens ran off soon as we got out there picked up the bird laid it by the decoy we thought we where done but heard another gobble from the space place this one came from we ran back over by the tree and sat down and my buddy did a few yelps and tom came strutting full speed across the field. This one came right on up to the dead gobbler and started pecking at it my buddy folded him up he was inside of 15 yards.

It was pretty interesting to watch to. I am glad i got william with sumtoy to build me a choke for my left handed escort shotgun at 20 yards the pattern is pretty dang tight. Think i will stick with the longbeard xr 3in number 6 shells.

This is my first time ever turkey hunting and it has been a blast so far his beard measured 9.5inches think he may have been a 2 year old bird. I'm huting in southeast ga I owe some credit to these forums for helping me get started and learning what to do and how to do it. Thanks guys
