Mossberg 500 Pure Gold Choke Questions

I am just about done setting up my son's Mossberg 500 and I have a few questions on the choke.  I bought it and the deal included a .555 pure gold choke.  I have hevi 6, hevi 7 and HW 7 to pattern in it.  I have a burris speed dot scope on it as well.  Anyone care to share what kind of patterns they have gotten from a pure gold in their mossbergs?  Can I expect better patterns with this .555 or should I be looking for a .570 or possibly a different choke?  If a different choke is recommended, which one?  Thanks.

I tried a variety of .555 chokes in mine but settled on the Pure Gold in .570.  It was a bit more open which I liked and still provided a killer pattern at 40. Not as high in pellet count but much more forgiving at 25 yds.  I am shooting the Fed HW #7's in it and am very pleased.  The hevishot in #7 also did well ( I have another 20 that is set up for hevishot) so I just picked one to site in and be consistant.  I really like them both. I should say both these shells are 3".  Good luck!

That is my concern as well.  I am primarily setting this up for my 10 year old but I may use it some as well.  I am a little concerned about it being too tight at short/medium range.  I do have a scope on it so that should help.  I am waiting on some warmer temps so I can get the scope dialed in and get some patterning done.  I have HW7, Hevi 6 and hevi 7 to try.

The 555 hasnt patterned that great for me. The 570 is better patterning and also a little more open. In my guns the 570 puts up a 110 to 120 pattern with federal heavyweight 6s
