Those of you that have shot the Federal Heavyweight #7's can you tell me what you think good or bad about these results.
From what I've read  it seems most often these shells work better with a non ported choke tube but I didn't have one. What I had was a Truglo TG150X .643 and a Truglo TG150 .665 using a Remington 11-87.  I had only one 5 count box of 3 ½" Federal Heavyweight #7 to test and these are the results.

                                                                 40 Yards   10"    20"   Total
1187   Truglo TG150X .643   Federal Heavyweight #7    208   166   374
1187   Truglo TG150X .643   Federal Heavyweight #7     201   167   368
1187   Truglo TG150X .643   Federal Heavyweight #7     177   166   343

                                         3 round average   195   166   362

1187   Truglo TG150 .665   Federal Heavyweight #7    177   182   354
1187   Truglo TG150 .665   Federal Heavyweight #7   153   180   333

                                         2 round average   165   181   343

Just looking at the numbers, sounds awesome.  That shell will hit like a ton of bricks.

I agree. Would love to see the patterns, but based on your post, that dog will hunt, and you have the hardest hitting production shell on the market today! :icon_thumright:

:agreed: Hard to beat the knockdown power of those shells.....

A 195 avg at 40 yards with those 7's is gonna hit a toms head like a freight train.

If I could have got them to do that good I would have never started hand loading.  Congrats.

I said it before on it and I'll say it again.  Anytime you put 200 shot in a 10" especially if that 200 shot is with 15g/c/c shot you are gonn wreak havoc on any gobbler that walks at 40yds and then some.

That's SUPER!!! I'm shooting the 870 SM with a Trulock .650 choke and getting in the 150's in a 10 inch circle......and knocking the snot out of those gobblers!

BandedSpur

Best results I have seen with that shell. Don't change a thing.

Looks like you got a great combo. I have been shooting the Fed HWT's for years. Never had a real good pattern ( 120-130 in the 10 @ 40). Two years ago I tried a Trulock choke that was made for the FedH wt #7. I now get 180 ish with my 3" guns and 210 ish with my 3.5 guns. Love that stuff. Last time I counted I had 3 of the ten shell 3" boxes and 9 of the 5 shell boxes. And 11 boxes of the 3.5 stuff.  I know it knocks the fire out of the gobblers..
Don't gobble at me...

it's not the harvest,it's the chase

Great patterns, and these shells kill gobblers better than any thing I have seen ,instant death.
Hunt every day as if it were your last.
