Just got an 870 SM.  Was thinking about shooting some Hevishot 13 #6s out of the gun.  What choke should I go with?

I just got a supermag too.  The factory did not do as good as a jellyhead .660.  Granted this is a 3.5" magblend but my barrel is not polished or anything like that.  I am sure with 6's you will be in the ballpark too.  191 in the 10.

What was the distance with that?  Im going back and forth with either a .660 or .665.

Lasered 40.  I understand the .665 Jellyhead might do better with that load but am not going to try because I am satisfied.  If I switch htl loads it will be to a #7 so the 660 is where I will stay.

I got 3 870's and they all shoot great with the jellyhead .660, My buddy has a 870 and his also shoots great with the same choke. That is with H-13 #6's and 7's. I would go with the .660 if it were me.

I have the 11-87 SM... with 3.5in HEVI #7 I was getting 276 in the 10in.  you cant go wrong with any of the chokes you mentioned. JH or HEVI choke are great with REM

I keep reading that if I want to shoot #7s go .660.  I would like to shoot 6's so I think Im going to roll with a .665 unless someone convinces me otherwise lol.

I'm personally starting to lean towards more open chokes.... not really to focus on the 10in at 40 yards.. but more realistic open hunting patterns.  I have a .660 JH now... but will be trying a .665 JH next week.  Then I'm going to be trying some .675 chokes..

I have a new 870 SM and shoot the JH .660 with Hevi #7's.  Got 336 hits in 10 inch circle at 40 yards.  I'm keeping what I've got.

With my 870 SM, I'm getting slightly better patterns with the .662 Hevi choke over a .660 Jelly Head.  Both 6's and 7's like the Hevi choke better on my own experience.  Tried some leftover Winchester Extended Range 6's and got 200 hits at a taped 40 yds with the Hevi choke, a bit of an improvement over my old .665 kicks at 179.

I say get both jelly heads and see what it likes better out of the two.

I shoot H13 #6's out of my 870 with a .660 JH. I get 220-230 in a 10" at 40 yes

I've shot both chokes but not with the same shells in my 870SM.

.660JH+ hevi#6s= 178
.662HS+ Magnum Blends=211

Both were 3.5" shells at 40yds.

I run a .650 Sumtoy out of mine and I'm 240's with the newer non-lot numbered h13 6s.

Dont discount a .650 or .660 for the 6s if you're looking for a tight, high density pattern.

Id be looking at Rhino or Sumtoy out of that gun, though.... Def not jellyhead or the h13 choke.
