Sticky Stock ??

GunRunner

I was surprised when I pulled my Browning BPS out of the case and found that the "soft touch" camo coating on the stock and fore grip were sticky and tacky to the touch.
I cleaned the gun as I always have at the end of the last years season. Also I tried to be very careful to keep oil off of the rubberized soft touch coating as always. I placed it in the case and it has been stored indoors in a normal temperature controlled environment. I have not used insect repellents or any thing that I know of that might explain what is going on.
I have tried to wash it with soapy water and it is still sticky.

Has anyone had similar issues or any insight?

Certain gun cleaners and oil are a problem with the dura touch. Also insect repellant, deet, permethrin will eat it up

Maybe some sort of  residue in the gun case that got on the stock?

Did you ask Browning what it might be?
I love golf.  It keeps a lot of people out of the turkey woods.

I never store long guns in cases, I keep them in a closet or a cheap gunlocker ( can't afford a real safe ). I had guns rust in a week or less from leaving them in the cases I use to transport them to and from the field. I agree w Ward w the residue in the case theory, maybe even fumes from cleaners or oil residue reacting w the grips.
