I am looking for a gun for my 8 year old son to hunt turkey's with this spring.  Does anyone have any experience with the Weatherby SA-08 youth? It is between that and the 11-87 compact.

Thanks,

Bunch of guys here running both!

You will be pleased with either with a quality choke and load.

That gun is becoming more and more popular based upon the inquiries/orders that I've been seeing for chokes for it. It seems to be a very reliable and fairly priced gun.

I hope that helps some.

Thanks,

Yes, both are very good guns. If I had to pick one, I would pick the 11-87. That is just my opinion, though. I have had much more experience with Remingtons, than I have with Weatherbys. I wouldn't think that you would have any trouble with either of them.

Thanks, guys I think I am going to give the Weatherby a try.  I have all Remington's in the safe so it will probably feel weird but the price on the Weatherby makes the decision.
