I've decided to do a little upgrading on my stock 870 SM I'm considering a stock like either the remington shurshot stock or something such as the blackhawk knoxx specops gen 2 with adjustable length of pull and recoil reducer.  Can you guys please give me some guidance.  I really like the style of the knoxx but it has very mixed reviews, some love and some hate.  Please give me your suggestions.
Thanks,

I have the knoxx recoil reducing stock on my 870 SM and have no complaints.  It does absorb some recoil, maybe 50% and being able to adjust the length of pull is nice.  You may experience the same problem I have with the trigger guard hammering the knuckle on your trigger finger.  It is tough to get use to having to consciously keep a tight grip on the pistol grip as you squeeze the trigger! :welcomeOG:

Thanks for my first response. . . I love this forum, from what I've read now just using the search function the recoil feature might not be the stock for me. . . maybe I should buy the NRS version of the Gen II b/c I planned on using a scope 1.75x4 Bushnell banner.  I see a lot of people saying with the recoil reducing stock that I'll get slammed with the scope?

I put a shurshot on an old 870 that I have 2 or 3 years ago.  I absolutely love the way it looks and performs.  It doesn't do a thing for recoil, but it is the most comfortable stock I have ever had on a turkey gun.  I bought an SBE2 last year and then bought a steadygrip for it over the summer.  I ended up taking it off -- it wasn't near as good as the shurshot setup on the 870 (comfort-wise).

Getting hit with the scope is a concern, my suggestion is to get a scope with as much eye relief as possible.  Then keep the stock set as long as possible.  I have seen people get hit by scopes on all sorts of guns including Remington Shureshot stocks so with heavy recoiling loads it is always a possibility. I personally have not been hit by my scope, shooting the heaviest 3.5" shells and my wife killed her first turkey with my gun last year and also had no problem.

If you are using a scope you do not want to use a know recoil reducing stock.  It will be easier for it to bite you.

Thanks,

Doris and I use a number of the ATI stocks on our guns. You can take a look at them at http://www.atigunstocks.com

We use both the AKITA adjustable hunting stocks and the tactical stocks.
