That's right.  Colonial Arms was the company that made the original Star Dot chokes for Highlander Sports that shot so dang well with lead or Hevi-13 loads in the Moss 835.  I know this for a fact.  I spoke to the owner on the phone about this some time ago.  She told me so herself after I persuaded her to tell me the truth from me putting 2 and 2 together from a little investigating.

You want the extra full choke 12-MOTPX from here http://www.colonialarms.com/ct07.html

$54.95 plus shipping.  These chokes should still have the same geometry as the original Star Dot chokes from what the owner told me when I spoke to her on the phone some time ago.  The only thing I believe to of changed was the porting and no knurling at the tip end of choke.

Just passing on info as I know it.

The legend of the Star Dot choke for the 835 lives.

You guys know how well they shoot.

Interesting. I hope they would shoot the same. Not sure I would buy one until I saw some patterning results from other guys.

Read what mightyjoeyoung said there.

Trust me, if you are the makers of a choke tube and have the internals written down and make the choke off of cutting machines like which a lot of companies have now like Okuma cnc lathes your going to be able to duplicate results from choke to choke.

Now I don't know what machines Colonial Arms has, but I would bet they have some good ones.

And I would also bet they can make the exact duplicate Star Dot choke that they originally made if they want too.  The owner told me the internals were the same.  And it's the exact same owner now who owned it then back in the 90's when the Star Dot chokes were made.

Nice!
That's good that they are able to replicate that choke. Gonna make it hard for guys trying to sell them to gouge people, which as already happening.

mightyjoeyoung

LOL  Looks like I'm gonna have to drop the price on the one I'm selling on a couple other forums huh?  The nice thing is I tested mine and can honestly say what it shot well and what it didn't.  That alone should warrant virtuall retail price alone I should think?...
Big Al's "Take-em" Style Silhouette decoys Pro-Staff.

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind te most.

I think I am going to try one of these in the 935. I don't live too far from Bay Minette so I may ride down and pick one up.

Skeeterbait

I don't see it listed on the website, did you ask her to confirm what their ID is?  If it is original specification then it should be .676.  Porting change could make a difference as it could change how well the edge of the porting grabs the wad.  it's a good looking choke, nice and long so it should have a long parallel section to stabilize the shot collumn.

The owner told me the internal dimensions of the extra full turkey choke was basically the exact same as the original Star Dot chokes.

The one I bought last year was not .676 and did not pattern near as well as the Stardot. It checked a little over .680.

I think time will tell when more people purchase these chokes what the overall consensus is.  It could be some of the dimensions has change over time from what the original Star Dots were.  I would buy one to try, but I really don't need one.

Come on Brad - we all know you have a choke buying/testing disease.
