Do turkeys make any visible rutting signs during their breeding period?  Like deer make rubs and scrapes, do turkeys make anything?  If so what time of year should they start showing up?

Boss gobblers will find cedar trees that are exactly 2.75 inches in diameter 12 inches from the ground and rub there spurs to sharpen them.  This action "excites" the tom to the point he has to repeatedly do the "ground stomp" until he has relieved the tension.  You can easily identify these trees by the "sticky" leaves/needles around the base.   :turkey2:

Genesis 27:3 - Now then, get your weapons—your quiver and bow—and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me.

Only thing I know of that would qualify as breeding sign would be wing drag marks.  A set of turkey tracks with fine lines on the ground on both sides is where a strutting gobbler drug the tips of his primary wing feathers.  If you find a concentration of other turkey sign in the area then you may have found a preferred strutting and breeding area.  Lot easier to kill a gobbler if you can be where he wants to go.

I do notice the road kill goes up. Just like in the deer season.
