New to turkey hunting... and the site!

Hi everyone!  I just joined the sight on the recommendation of a friend.  Got my first gobbler last year with my oldest son at my side.  We had a grand time and are looking forward to this Spring more than we ever have!  I'm still a deer fanatic, however my son is definitely a turkey addict!   I really want to get him into turkey calling as he's taken to it like he was born to it...

I had never been hunting turkey before, but after deer season closed, I just couldn't stay inside.  On a whim I decided to give turkey hunting a try with my crossbow.  After months of studying and practicing we hit the woods.  We had a blast!  --and we were successful in bagging our first bird.  It was a mature Tom and I couldn't have hoped for more!  Better than that was the fact we did it all on our own.  No one in our families or any friends we knew were turkey hunters.  So we relied on videos and hunting shows to give us an idea.  It worked!

Anyway, this looks like a wonderful site to be a part of, so I look forward to learning alot!

my advice to anyone who has never hunted turkeys is DON'T DO IT!!! But I see its too late for you. welcome to OG and good luck to you this spring. You'll find lots of good info here.
