Acorns have been dropping here for 3 weeks or more and persimmons are already ripe!
We have over 3 weeks before bow season even starts.
Hope there will be some food left to hunt over!
I have never seen persimmons ripen this early
The ground would be covered but the cattle make their rounds every day and get what has fallen, we got this pic before they arrived that day

I know down here in the south, we have a ton of acorns hanging ready to hit the ground. Should be plenty enough grub this year for them. I guess all this rain we have gotten the last few months is paying off. Have not seen any on the ground yet though other than what the squirrels cut and drop.

Sometimes in a dry year the mast is more for some reason.
Someone said that the drought was making their peppers taste hotter than normal....I don't know if there is anything behind that but I do recall the years we have been lean in the summer on rain the acorns were more and bigger.

I have noticed a lot of hickory nut cuttings as I have been checking trail cameras and hanging stands the past couple of weeks. I know the corn has been falling on the private land I will be hunting this year.
I have gone through just over 500 lbs this summer between trying to get hogs patterned and getting deer to hang out in a straight line from a given position.
There is one persimmon tree near a local creek/backwater from the river that is drooping under the weight of the persimmons. Our pin oaks in the yard are dropping marble sized acorns, but I haven't seen any acorns dropping in the woods where I hunt so far.

Same here in East Tn acorns are falling very early and the spring foliage was about a month early so I guess that is some explanation
