A week or so ago, I posted some digitized pics of a new Waterfowl shell from EM.This is a close up of an actual Speed Ball shell for those interested. It's pretty cool stuff!

Take note of the Mv2 pellets and the actual Speed Ball itself.

That would make a mean yote load for sure.

Interesting............

I see flat spots and what looks like a "band" around some of the copper plated pellets.

Looks like some of the copmponents could be used for "baiting" waterfowl

Flax seed.   They use it as a wad filler over the pellet load to keep everything from loosening up and mixing because the load weight of the combined pellets won't fill the wad completely like a homogenious steel load would.  They do the exact same thing with the heavy metal rounds which I think, except for the whole extra 50 fps increase in velocity, these things are basically the same thing anyways.  Not sure which wad they're using.  The flat spots are likely just where the steel wire was snipped off during the production process.  My question is how would steel shot be any good for yotes?!

What is the speed ball itself for and what is it made from?

They call it "elastomer" which is just a fancy word for a hard rubber ball.   ::)

They're tearing the load...and the pro-staffers a new hinie hole over on nodakoutdoors right now!  Same for a few other hunting chat sites too.  So much hype...so little fact.
