It's less the snow and more that they have periods of the year where it stays daylight all day and vice versa.

Add in a lack of food and a pretty gnarly winter makes for some pretty rough habitat.

As soon as a higher up in the N"WTF" figures out he could be the first person to kill a wild turkey in Alaska there will be at least one in Alaska.

Mag10

Hi! This is Tena Mag10's wife.  I live in Southeast Alaska and wanted to tell you that I sat next to a guy from the Kenai Pennisula and he showed me pictures of turkeys in their backyard.  I was talking with him about turkey hunting and he told me that he was also a turkey hunter. He said that there are turkeys there.
I had the same question why is there no turkeys there, but did see the proof with my own eyes.  I cannot say one way or the other if they are true wild birds or ones that have been let go, but they are there.
This gentleman told me that the downfall for the turkeys there is the eagles.
Where I live in Southeast Alaska there is only 45 minutes difference in daylight hours then here in Central MN.
