I have been shooting a 870 supermag but really like the looks of the super nova. Can any of you give me any info? Reliability, ease of take down, and any other info I won't find from a magazine would be appreciated. How does it compare to the 870. Thanks for your time.

I've owned the Nova for many years, since shortly after they were introduced. (The Super Nova has a stock that is removable, otherwise the guns are the same.)

It uses the Mobil Choke system and chokes for it are widely available.

It's a very durable gun, since the stock, receiver and forearm are covered with a synthetic material and the chamber and bore are chrome-lined. It will keep on going with very little maintenance or cleaning.

Nova triggers are notoriously heavy and sometimes gritty. They do improve with use or dry firing but are not adjustable.

The forearm starts its rearward movement the moment the shot is fired, much like the Winchester "speed pumps". If you like that feature, it's good but for some it's a bit disconcerting.

Some shooters complain of the forearm rattling. Mine does not but some do, I'm told.

I'd just recommend that you pick one up and see how it feels to you. I like them and they have a lot of loyal followers.

I hope that helps some.

Thanks,
Clark

I have a 26" SN. I picked it because it fit me good. However mine came with shims to adjust comb drop and left and right hand pitch. The SN has a larger trigger guard.
The addiction will cost you time and money and alienate those close to you. I can give you the names of a dozen addicts — myself included — whose wives begin to get their hackles up a week before turkey season starts and stay mad until a week after it closes.
