Satan sucks ~ Devotion 4/25/12

Yeah, the title may be a bit coarse, but you know, I'm just calling it like I see it.

How many times have you been bumping on down the road of life, taking the little twists and turns that come up and just taking things in stride, when...  WHAM!  Out of nowhere you get T-boned by a garbage truck going at full speed.  Lost job? Diagnosed with cancer?  Death of a family member?  We've all been there.  Sometimes we experience things in life that make us realize that there is NOTHING that we can do in our own power but to fall at the feet of Jesus and ask for His divine intervention.  Most of us are familiar with the story of Job... a man that went through the worst of the worst... yet still remained faithful to God.  Check it out-

Job 2:7-10

New Living Translation (NLT)

7 So Satan left the Lord's presence, and he struck Job with terrible boils from head to foot.

8 Job scraped his skin with a piece of broken pottery as he sat among the ashes. 9 His wife said to him, "Are you still trying to maintain your integrity? Curse God and die."

10 But Job replied, "You talk like a foolish woman. Should we accept only good things from the hand of God and never anything bad?" So in all this, Job said nothing wrong.

What's the chance that Job, persistent in his devotion to God, could have ever dreamed that he would be an inspiration for thousands of years to those who would suffer hardship in their lives around the globe?
It's not easy to deal with some of the blows that come our way in life.  The title of today's devotion was what came to mind yesterday when my oldest daughter, due in August with my first grandbaby, told us that the technician that did her ultrasound yesterday could not find kidneys or a bladder on the baby.  My daughter has always loved babies and kids.  She was crushed as she shared this news yesterday. I know that My God can do things that astound the medical community on a regular basis, so I am believing that His hand will be strong in the body of that little one still developing.
It's tough when you get hit in your own life, but when satan tries to destroy the hopes and dreams of your kids... it gets personal.  I would appreciate your prayers for my daughter Amber and her husband Zach.  They are headed to an appointment in a couple of hours with a specialist to do an MRI and ultrasound.  I don't pretend to know what God has in store, but I know that He is in complete control of the situation.

Please keep us updated on your grandbaby's condition.  I just found out that my daughter is expecting twins and my son's wife's due date is 12 days later... 3 grandchildren in 2 weeks!  We've been praying for these babies and will include yours as well...

Thanks for the devotional Wendell, I've been hit a few times by that truck and didn't always use Job's way to deal with it. This is a great reminder!!!

My prayers go out to your daughter and to the entire family. God Bless!!
