I do not keep up with guns at all. I have used the same two shot guns for the last 42 years and the same deer riffle for the last 42 years. If it works don't fix it, is the way I look at it. I have been hearing about a 3" 20 ga. A older guy I work with was telling me about seeing some targets a guy shot at the range, but he did not know what make it was, only a 3" 20ga. The Doc. told my dad the other day not to ever shoot his 3.5  Mag. anymore, because of his eye surg. Dad and I would like to know about this  good shooting 20 ga. I do not know if it is a( Rem, Win,??????) it does not matter as long as it shoots a good pattern. If I can find one that is simi auto. or pump I would like to buy it for my dad. I do not want to go to a dealer until I hear some things about it from hunters and I would know what to ask for.  Like I said I do not keep up with guns, so any help or info. someone can give me on this gun would be a great help.  If I needed a bow I would not have to ask lol. Thanks for any info.

I'm not a 20 ga. shooter but I'm sure you will find what you need here .  I would try the 20 ga. section on here . I think its same as 12 ga. match the right choke with the right gun .

I'll second the 1000 LT as a good 20 GA choice.  Like dstueve said, shooting 3" turkey loads out of a 20ga will give nearly and in some cases more felt recoil than his current set up.  Another option would be to pick up an 870 youth 20ga with a 3" chamber.  Swap the stock for a Knoxx or some similar recoil reducing stock and put a limbsaver on it.  You can get a comb attachment for the Knoxx as well if he shoots with optics.  With the right choke and HTL loads you should be able to get a good 35-40 yard pattern out of it.  A few guys I hunt with are switching to a similar setup.  Lighter to carry, and just as capable as a 12 out to 35-40 yards.

Thanks, tomorrow Dad is going to use a 12ga. 2 3/4". His big problem right now is he can't see a sight. He has a combo. with a scope on it. He hunted with it when he deer hunted VA back in the day when deer and turkey was in at the same time. 243 under a 12 ga. He is going to take it tomorrow with shot gun shells only. I hate to say it but I think his hunting is coming very close to the end because of his eyes. I will do whatever I can to keep him going.
