I took my first bird of the year Wednesday afternoon.  It's also the third bird ive taken with my new to me Mossberg 835 with a pure gold choke shooting 3.5 inch win hv #5s.  I sat down next to an oak tree surrounded by set a side after work. I was just getting my calls out when he gobbled at 50 yards. I hit my glass call a couple times and he strutted in.  He was at 35 yarrds when i took the shot. The win #5hv smashed his head. Not to bad for walmart shells.

Congrats! Looks like a nice bird.
The addiction will cost you time and money and alienate those close to you. I can give you the names of a dozen addicts — myself included — whose wives begin to get their hackles up a week before turkey season starts and stay mad until a week after it closes.

He was nice.  9.5 inch beard, 1 3/16 spurs, and weighted 24.5 lbs.  We have been seeing alot of good weights on birds this spring here in Wisconsin.  Probably thanks to a unusually mild winter.

Nice bird there, congrats!

What part of the state are you in? I've noticed they are a bit on the big side around central wisconsin as well.

The bird was killed outside paoli. Southwestern Dane co.

Nice!  I put one on the ground this morning using some Hevi I still had but the rest will be with the exact same Win. load out of my 835.  Plan on using my 500 with Win XX 5's also.
