i think hevi shot shells are good but i do have to admit since last year hevi 13 shells just arent consistant we all used to get better numbers with them a couple years ago now the numbers are down and i duno we had (3) different  835's shooting same shells #7's different chokes: star dots, ic's, jelly head's, and they all dont just do as good as they use too one shell is great the other is open outta the same box its very hard to even pattern these shells people say shoot only on calm warm days...well i duno bout you but i cant really make it warm and calm before i go huntin  and the thing that really gets me is this $29.99/box you would think 6 dollar shells would be better, do i think hevi shot is a good product...yes... but the hevi 13 have been lacking...

I have noticed the same thing. I am shooting a combo that should put up good numbers with Hevi, and the numbers just aren't there. I believe you are gonna see a trend to guys shooting the Win XRHD shells. They may not have the huge numbers, but they hit like a hammer, and no lot numbers to worry about. Just go out and shoot!

Exactly why I have not strayed from the Win XRHD. The whole lot number thing with Hevi is just nonsense that I don't want to deal with.  It's too bad because I have seen some fantastic patterns with it.

I shot mag blends and straight 7s yesterday with jellyhead 690 and Indian creek 675 out of 835 and 935 and am getting 240 in the 10" with 7s and about 215 with the 5,6,7 blend. Nitros h517 shot 240 in the 10" 4,5,7s :OGturkeyhead:

To hell with environmetal and h13.

The inconsistency is unacceptable and their deceit about production changes is unprofessional.

Shopping for lot numbers???? Ridiculous.

Time to give nitro more business!

Well maybe I'm one of the lucky ones that has a few boxes of the "good" shells but anyway I am very pleased with the Hevi-13 and the numbers that I have personally shot.  I finally got a Star Dot choke from another member on here and I had a chance to check it out today along with my Jelly Head choke.  Conditions were not favorable had a pretty stiff 10-15 mile an hour wind blowing right to left.  My 835 with the jelly head choke at 40 yds out of a dirty barrel put 286 in the 10 inch circle with hevi13 #7's.  The Star Dot shooting the same #7's put 306 in the 10" circle.  The best #'s I've ever shot from my gun.  Also shot the Federal heavyweight #7's out of the star dot and it was not very impresive.  I do agree 6 dollars a shell is very steep.

What's the # on your jellyhead choke tube??

I can't get the Federal Heavyweights to pattern for squat out of my 835.   Shot them through Jelly head and star dot and both were lousy.

Not supposed to shoot Federal heavyweights through a ported choke tube due to the flite control wad. That could be why they shot like "crap".
Blessed are the peacemakers for they are the children of God.
