anyone know why turkeys pretty much run right to a field when it rains...i heard that its because the leaves are hard to roll when there scratchin and i heard they like to see whats comming up on them cause they cant hear when its raining...maybe old wise tales....anybody else hear this or know actually know why ...?

i would say its because they feel safer. it can get pretty noisy sometimes as the rain is hitting the leaves. also there is a lot more movement in the woods when it is raining. so it just makes sense that they would want to be in the open where they can see and hear better.

Hearing is diminished and they feel safer in the open to depend on eyesight. Also frequent fields more on windy days.

Don't have a clue...but they like open areas and you will see a lot on woods roads also.

That's what I have always heard. The rain get's the grasshoppers ,and other insects wet, and the cant fly away so the are easy pickings.
