Hunt MD and WV, and WV is always killer to wait for. Especially with sites like this showing dead birds left and right when I can't even tote a gun to the woods yet.

I lost my hunting spot from the last ten years.  I have a new spot to check out this year.  I am ready for the 23rd.  Hunting Marion county here.
No trees were hurt in the sending of this message, however a large number of electrons were highly inconvenienced.

Sorry to hear you lost your spot Steve.

I went out this morning, and not a gobble one.  Little piece here in town where I live, it has held 2-3 gobblers these past 3 years.  They are there, just no need to gobble yet.

Or they are with hens, and don't need to gobble now?

I'm farther North in PA, and was out this morning too. Heard one gobbling his fool head off non stop for the 15 minutes I was in hearing distance of him. This one obviously thought he should be, or wanted to be in the company of hens?

They're just now starting to get good and fired up in the southern part of the state. We've been starting to hear a quite a few birds just not a whole lot of early morning gobbling. Hopefully they stay quiet for a little longer.

Still counting down the days. I dont think it needs to open April 1st, i mean this is a weird year, look at our previous years, sometimes its still snowing by then. lol. I think if they moved it up one week it would be absolutely perfect, but where it is is fine too, i never have a problem finding birds. :)

It hasn't snowed in April for quite a few years. I've always heard gobbling at the end of March and by the time the end of April comes they are on the down swing of breeding. April 1st all the way. If you don't want to hunt that early then just wait for the second week. Lol

Hunted for 3 days and have had atleast 4 toms gobble at me everyday within travel distance but the hens just keep them from coming in.
