The only issue I see with the XDR is that I dont want to buy a box of 10 shells (spending 2x the money) and have 9 shells that won't work worth a darn

The Walmart near me used to carry them...several years ago. I bought the last boxes of their XR 3-1.75-6's when they were on clearance for $13. They stopped carrying them after that.
