Went from a 28" on my 11-87 down to a 21" and I love the shorty.  My 21" actually shoots better than the 28" with my choke selections.  I guess it is personal preference.  Keep in mind most chokes also stick out the barrel about 2 inches too, so that 28" is now about 30 inches long.  Either way good luck.

I prefer shorter barrels myself. The slight increase in possible pattern performance is outweighed by the ease of handling in the woods, for me.
