3" 870 Shell Shucker

63 Degrees.

3" 2 Ounce Magnum Blend = 200 in 10" at 40 Yards, 122 between 10" and 20", 322 Total

3" 1.75 Ounce Hevi13 #6 = 189 in 10" at 40 Yards, 119 between 10" and 20", 308 Total
(I counted the Snowman pellets as 2 Hits)

3" 1.75 Ounce Winchester Supreme HV #5 Lead = 131 in 10" at 40 Yards

3" 2 Ounce PMC Copper Plated #6 Lead = 170 in 10" at 35 Yards

3" 1.875 Ounce Handloaded 4x6x7.5 Lead = 210 in 10" at 35 Yards

All 5 Patterns were nice and even, with close enough POA/POI to use the factory bead.  This is the best "across the board" performance I've ever gotten.  Even better than the patterns I've gotten using my old style .665 Indian Creek in my 870.

I shot the two 35 Yard patterns to compare with some old patterns from last year that I shot through different guns and chokes.

Looks like your gonna have to change from 870 shell shucker to BPS shell shucker. :you_rock:  Congrats on the great patterns...

Well, the BPS is a shiny, classy looking, pretty gun with polished blue and a walnut stock and forearm.  Not even ready for a sling.

The 870 is non glare with camo stock and forearm, and a sling attached, so it's pretty obvious that I'll hunt with my 870 95% of the time.

But the BPS will definitely shoot now.

Your percentage for the Hevi13 #6 is about the same as what I got out the same choke with my A5 Inv+, 2-3/4" 1.5 oz Hevi13 #6.  My count was 156 in 10" @ 40 yrd... that gives 54.5% (156/286).

#4
This was the first time that I've ever gotten above the 150's with the 3" 1.75 Ounce Hevi13 #6 shells.  Every other combo I've tried in my 870 and BPS has been between 143 and 159.  189 was a significant improvement with the straight 6's.

Using the same brand choke (Indian Creek) and exit diameter (.665) in each gun, the BPS beat my 870 by:

Magnum Blend = 10 Pellets
Hevi13 #6's = 34 Pellets
Winchester Supreme HV #5 Lead = 15 Pellets
PMC 2 Ounce Lead 6's at 35 Yards = 27 Pellets

I'm impressed with the INV+ performance.  Though, I do realize that I have more net constriction in the BPS.  I've read that you have to have more constriction with INV+ guns.

:icon_thumright: Congrats on the new gun and great patterns. My boy has the same gun. He gets 140's with the fed 1-½ozs 7's @40 ranged and the H-13 1-¼ oz gets 150's both with the brn. full. Nice kiling pattern. The trulock 585 is getting better numbers for him now. I'll post in the spring,I don't no what I did with them.
Looks like I'll be tryin the MB!  :o. Thx for posting

I counted the 10" to 20" numbers for these two patterns last night.  I also went back and counted the Snowman pellets as 2 Hits in the 10" circle.

3" 2 Ounce Magnum Blend = 200 in 10" at 40 Yards, 122 between 10" and 20", 322 Total

3" 1.75 Ounce Hevi13 #6 = 189 in 10" at 40 Yards, 119 between 10" and 20", 308 Total
