I have never shipped a gun for a hunting trip. I have always taken it with me on the plane. To ship a complete gun it must go to an FFL.

BUT I have had a friend ship me a gun that I had traded for. He shipped it in 3 packages and declared them as "Gun Parts" to UPS and they were insured and shipped no problem.

Not true. See post #7, it's completely legal to ship a gun to yourself.

Breaking the gun into parts makes no difference. Legally the serial numbered part (the receiver), is a firearm and must be shipped as such even if all the other parts are missing.
