The stud is in the box. You have to screw it in the cap yourself.  Look down the barrel of the gun you are buying to make sure there are not a lot of machine marks in it.  I looked through all of the ones they had a got the one with the best barrel, it has no big defects or marks in it.

I have one also. shot geese and doves but only sighted it in for turkey season. Used a choke-http://allaboutshooting.com/product_info.php?cPath=69&products_id=75.

Threw a great pattern with 3" shells at 50 yards.

Didn't even use during turkey season as i used my 11-87 and magnum blend 3 1/2 shells-2 turkeys at 39 and 40 yards.  Just didn't take the 835 when I went out those days.

Found 3 1/2 inch loads -geese turkey- were brutal --3" more manageable. nice weight for dove and rabbit so predators would be good.

Had a red dot on mine and it handled nice. scope would be good too. I use a scope on my 11-87 for turkey and have added one to my tk 2000. I like scopes for these old eyes. the red dot works good too--

I have 2 - a truglo

and a Muellar Quick shot--http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/Mueller-Quick-Shot-1x33-mm-Red-Dot-Sight.aspx?a=354555&pm2d=CSE-SPG-3-GOOGLE&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cse

Both work well
