This is not the average Bunch

The average bird registered(top 9 for each team) was 62.018. This is definitely not your average bird. The hunters here are an exceptional group. To put it in perspective, every bird shot averaged 22 pounds, a 10" beard and 1" spurs. That is compared to around here, 19 pounds, 9" beard and .875 spurs. Thats a 54.5 point bid, which is about what I average. Hats off to everybody here, Z

But I must say, anyone who participates in a turkey hunting message board in 2025 isn't average. We're all sick in the head.

I imagine you all are shooting eastern birds and more from the norther to eastern side of the range. Genetics play a huge role in this. Still that's an impressive stat. I got two of the smallest birds I've tagged in many years this year. Most of my birds are 60 pt birds and above and I don't target big birds. I do zero sorting, if it gobbles and comes it dies. I generally pass jakes but there's no guarantee I won't shoot a jake if it puts on a good hunt.

Thanks Happy, I feel pretty lucky this year. Very little action but got luck and filled my NH tags, only one in Maine but that is all gravy. Just noticed that the "average bird" here was well above average in general. There are a lot of great turkey hunters here. I am blessed that I could be a part of this awesome community. Z

Z, how bout a signing bonus to jump ship to the Killer B's? We have to break up the roaring 20's before they roar on to another victory....lol, great job, congrats!!!

Thanks for the offer Tom, lol. I am a homer, I was with the 20's when we got beat up. I will stay while we are getting lucky. The tide can turn anytime. Z

You guys keep right on winning and laying down big ole gobblers. It's fun to watch you all post those big gobblers. This contest is just fun and I have fun no matter who wins. I don't change anything about my hunting just for a fun contest. In other words I'm not hunting only high scoring birds, and I doubt if other OG members are either. This is what makes it fun. The banter and fellowship is reward enough. Here's hoping you win again, in 6 years

The verbal abuse is worth the price of admission here egg, lol. There are some sharp tongued smartasses here and I love it. This is definitely a stellar group of hunters and eye pokers. This is definitely the place to be.    Z
