Great bird!  I wear a scar on my hand from a bird with similar sized spurs.  He wasn't quite done when I saw his spurs and had to get my hands on him.  LOL.

On a piece of public land, the stars have got to really line up for ANYBODY to kill a gobbler like that, much less a newbie. I hope he realizes the good fortune that has come his way. Regardless, in the years ahead, he will come to appreciate the stroke of luck that was involved in that!   :D

Absolutely!. I told him that that's a once in a lifetime turkey for any piece of land, let alone public, and I told him that he probably doesn't realize it but he will have to kill A LOT of turkeys before he runs in to another that will even remotely compare to that most likely
